As the voice of Nigeria’s green building sector, GBCN catalyzes positive change in the built environment through advocacy and engagement with construction & real estate sector community, and the wider society in general.

Knowledge and capacity gaps have been consistently rated as a major obstacle to green building development in Nigeria. GBCN is actively working to address this challenge through courses, seminars and other programs designed to develop local capacity to deliver a greener built environment.

GBCN recognizes the importance of standards to the development of green buildings in Nigeria. It is therefore championing the development and deployment of a local green building standard and rating system that will provide context-based guidance & criteria to developers, professionals, and construction companies.

GBCN’s certification systems, based on its green building rating system, provides designers and developers with objective recognition, provided by an independent third-party, of the greenness of their design and/or building in comparison with others. GBCN also offers product endorsements to vendors and manufacturers, providing assurance to designers and specifiers on the sustainability of a product.
